From culinary, to legal, to technical, to musical, the intelligence of Black People and the innovative and creative abilities within us has introduced so many beautiful things to our world, over time, that happen to make life so much sweeter. With this in mind, we believe it is fitting to celebrate all of this by spotlighting some rising Black talent. Black Girl Fly Magazine wants to shed some light and share the gifts of a young, amazingly gifted, talented, Black Man: Calid B. Calid is a Chicago based music artist, originally from Columbus, OH. Usually working behind the boards as a producer/manager for artists like Brandun DeShay and ShowYouSuck, in this latest song “I Want U (remix)”, released on Valentine's Day, Calid hops in front of the mic and delivers some smooth vocals over the sexy production of Soulection's Orijanus. Calid has plans on releasing new music throughout 2016, with an album release in the summer. “I Want You (remix)” has a laid back, sultry vibe with instrumentals consisting of heavy bass and melodic chords floating in the background, as he rapper spits bars to a young woman about their love. The combination of vocal samples and music create a sound that is fitting for the music industry of today, but still distinguished from much of the contemporary Hip Hop sounds. Be sure to check out the song on Soundcloud and also follow the artist on social media @calidb.

unnamedHey yawl I’m Tyler Marie, or Ty as I’ve come to be called. I am a (West-Side) Chicagoan ‘til Chicago ends. I attended Whitney M. Young Magnet High School here in the city and went on to attend the first Private HBCU, Wilberforce University (OH) where I obtained my B.A. Sociology in 2012. It’s probably pretty clear now that writing is kind of ‘my thing’ but I’m more than okay with that. Other hobbies include eating, playing basketball, modeling and singing. Basically, I spend all my time trying to be as fly of a Black Girl as I can be. Connect with me via: Twitter/Instagram- @_Mighty5| Tumblr-
