As a Black woman, there is nothing that I want more than to be found striving toward being the woman that God created me to be and to that reflected in other Black women. It is because of this that I feel obligated to share the news of an upcoming event that the Muslim Girls Training and General Civilization Class (MGT, GCC) Vanguard of the Nation of Islam is planning specifically for our Black women and girls. The headlining speaker will be the Honorable Minister Louis Farrakhan and the title of his message will be “A Nation Can Rise No Higher Than Its Woman”   The event will take place this upcoming Saturday on April 18th, 2015 at 9AM CST.

The  Muslim Girls Training and General Civilization Class provides teachings and training of women and girls who belong to the Nation of Islam. There are seven units that include How to Keep House, How to Rear our Children, How to Take Care of Our Husbands, Sew, Cook, and in general How to Act at Home and Abroad. There is a common misconception that Muslim women in the Nation of Islam have restricted rights and are held from obtaining certain careers or positions. However, this event may present the women of Islam and the MGT in a very different manner. If in attendance, you will see that we are sisters and scholars; women and warriors. We are taught to use our God-given gifts and talents to help ourselves, our families, and our communities. With the will of Allah (God) we will be able to display everything that makes an MGT a woman of God. Not only will you see our culture but you will also feel the love we have for each other. There will be a fashion show and numerous presentations and following that, we will hear a very special message from the Honorable Minister Louis Farrakhan, Leader of Nation of Islam.

The event will be broadcast from Chicago, Illinois at Mosque Maryam. However, many study groups and mosques throughout the country will be streaming this via webcast. So if you are in Chicago, come by at 7351 S. Stony Island. For any other locations, send me an email at muhammadjustice96@gmail.com and I will be able to point you in the right direction.
