My President is Black… And A Woman!

Channing Dungey Appointed As President of ABC

Okay, Fly Girls, now let's get in formation and celebrate the success of this historical, career changing SLAY! Continuing in our passionate expression of love and accolades during this magical Black History Month, Black Girl Fly Magazine excitedly wants to send our congratulations to Channing Dungey, recently named President of ABC Entertainment Group--Congratulations!

From Drama to HQIC (that's “Head Queen In Charge”), Dungey is the first African American to be President of a major broadcast network. The former Executive Vice President of Drama Development is also currently the only woman to head one of the Big Four networks: NBC, CBS, ABC, and Fox.

It is said that ABC staff proudly admits that Channing Bungey is already an exceptional leader and well deserving of the promotion! Apparently, she is a television consumer favorite as well. Dubbed the “Shonda Rhimes Whisperer” for her work with the popular curator of Scandal and How to Get Away with Murder, Dungey also helped bring us American Crime, Blackish and Once Upon A Time. Now, in her new role, Channing Dungey will be able to continue to bring us great entertainment television and simultaneously become a pillar of aspiration for young, Black Queens to aim high and achieve! You go, girl!

unnamedHey yawl I’m Tyler Marie, or Ty as I’ve come to be called. I am a (West-Side) Chicagoan ‘til Chicago ends. I attended Whitney M. Young Magnet High School here in the city and went on to attend the first Private HBCU, Wilberforce University (OH) where I obtained my B.A. Sociology in 2012. It’s probably pretty clear now that writing is kind of ‘my thing’ but I’m more than okay with that. Other hobbies include eating, playing basketball, modeling and singing. Basically, I spend all my time trying to be as fly of a Black Girl as I can be. Connect with me via: Twitter/Instagram- @_Mighty5| Tumblr-
