Earlier this year we received an email from the lovelies at It's My Hair Magazine. Enclosed was a notification that we had been chosen among a group of .. women to be honored at their first annual "Black Women in Media" Awards. I didn't answer the email right away; the imposter syndrome kicked in as I re-read the email about 15 times in disbelief. "Did they mean to send this to us?"- I asked myself. We barely made our 6th month anniversary; in my mind, although we've experienced amazing growth, we hadn't done enough. This is self-doubt at it's best. In reality, the last 6 months has been amazing. Our collective of contributors, graphic designers, Black Girl Fly Magazine has reached over 50,000 fly supporters across our various media platforms. We've collaborated with some amazing brands and interviewed some of the flyest women, girls and guys around. We are excited for growth and plan to expand our team and content internationally by the end of the year. Surely we are excited to celebrate these amazing accomplishments

It’s My Hair! Magazine has celebrated Black beauty since 2012. This year in Atlanta, on June 13, 2015, It’s My Hair! will recognize some of the most influential and intriguing women during our first annual Black Women In Publication Awards.

Today, Black Women In Publication celebrates and recognizes key influencers who empower, inspire, and embrace through publication. Black Women In Publication is a platform created to recognize women of color who are innovators within the publication realm. This initiative was also created as a platform for other Black women currently in the publication industry to receive a wealth of information from those who have attained renowned success in their respective fields.

Please join us in celebrating women who have helped illuminate positive images of Black women.
